Dance and Beer

Happy Thursday to you all,

As anticipated, Jairo Barull was as stunningly fast as you could ever imagine! He and his Spanish Flamenco Dance Company wowed the crowd with his amazing footwork on his UK Debut in Chelmsford last Friday night.  It was elegant and dramatic, and really captured his gypsy flamenco upbringing.  The musicians that were with him were also fantastic, telling the story of their heritage through song and dance it was a truly memorable night, and I hope that his UK success takes off from here.

Something else to look forward to next week, starting Tuesday 10th – Saturday 14th July is the CAMRA’s (Campaign for Real Ale) Chelmsford Beer Festival at Admiral’s Park with over 300 Real Ales, over 100 Real Cider and Perries, a wide selection of Belgian Beer, local wine and food served all day – what more could you want!  You can check out the website here.  I will be making my Chelmsford Beer Festival Debut – which is very exciting – as everyone is always talking about it, so I shall most certainly be reporting back with pictures and some stories after next week.

You can also sign the petition to ‘Save the British Pint’ here to stop the beer duty escalator to support our Great British Pubs! Please go on and sign if you want to continue enjoying your fresh pint in your local pub!! BRITISH PUBS NEED YOU!!

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my new blog on Essex, this blog will take you through all the exciting events, eateries and explorations that our county has to offer us.  Hopefully opening your eyes to new things, inspiring you to visit new places and share tips!

Having always lived in Essex (except for a couple of years in the south of France) I feel that I am fully qualified in showing you the delights of our county, based in the newly appointed City of Chelmsford.

To start us off, is one of my favourite venues mixed with one of my favourite hobbies - the Civic Theatre and Flamenco TOMORROW NIGHT!

"Internationally renowned Gypsy Flamenco dancer Jairo Barrull and his dance company are making their UK debut here in Chelmsford. This explosive show reflects Jairo's unique gypsy flamenco upbringing and his very unique personal style of footwork, a style pioneered by his father Ramón Barrull in the 1970s and later adopted and extended by Jairo into his own style. Originally from Seville, Jairo has been performing since he was seven years old. His family are the well known 'Los Negros de Ronda', whose artistic legacy stems back to the 18th century."

Flamenco is one of my passions, I love to watch the earthy dance, and I am also a beginner flamenco dancer.  It is a beautiful dance, so if you get the chance and are free tomorrow night then do make your way down to the Civic Theatre for some authentic Spanish delights - you will not be disappointed!!

If you want more information on Jairo then click on his homepage: http://www.jairobarrull.com/

And if you want to get some last minute tickets then go to: http://www.chelmsford.gov.uk/barrull and the tickets cost fifteen pound - an absolute bargain for a man who has performed before the Pope at the age of thirteen! My review will follow in the next couple of days.
